We’re delighted to announce that Paul Vaughan, business operations director of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), has joined us as a non-executive director.

Paul was recruited by the RFU in 2001 as its first commercial director, helping more than double its turnover within five years to over £103m in 2006/7. Prior to joining the RFU, he was a senior vice president at Octagon, the sports marketing agency, where he worked on sponsorship deals for Lloyds TSB with rugby’s “Five Nations” and Sony and Mastercard at Euro 2000. He first became involved with event and sports marketing whilst at Whitbread in the 1980s, working on the Stella Artois Tennis Championships, the Heineken Cup and the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. In fact, it was at Whitbread that we first met him as a client and we’re delighted to have him back on board now in his new role.

And the winners are……….

February 10, 2009

Since good news would appear to be somewhat thin on the ground at the moment, we’re delighted to have some.

We’ve just won the prestigious Platinum Award at the Eventia International Awards.

Not only that, but the launch of the Volvo XC60 also won a hat trick of Gold medals for creative use of a venue’s facilities, best use of logistics and best product launch.

It’s fantastic to have our work recognised as the gold standard for the industry – in fact, it doesn’t get any better. Most pleasing is the fact that the judges at Eventia place a huge emphasis on proven effectiveness – so it’s only projects that have really worked that make the grade.

Fed up in February?

February 10, 2009

They say that February is the month for the blues and, if the recession hasn’t got you there yet, then the cold may well really turn you blue this week.

However, we refuse to be beaten by either of those and so thought we’d post this link to hopefully tickle those of you feeling down-at-heart or down-in-the-mouth this week.

Enjoy, we did!

Inspiring words…..

February 6, 2009

So the biggest news this week, this year, this decade, if not, this century, is obviously the inauguration of President Obama. Many column inches have been devoted to debating the reasons for his meteoric rise from little-known Senator to the most famous and powerful man in the world – and everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

However, it surely cannot be denied that one of the over-riding factors is his unrivalled ability to communicate in relevant language to diverse audiences. Not only is he an outstanding writer and orator but, if we are to believe what we read about him, his even temperament and ability to empathise give him diplomatic skills second-to-none.

As we ride the turbulent economic waves, it might serve our business leaders to remember that targeted, relevant communication can win-over cynical audiences. And that, in transforming audiences, so businesses can be transformed.
